herman de vries – die wiese | the meadow
herman de vries – juniper communis
Peter Foolen Editions and De Ketelfactory have published an edition in two parts by herman de vries. Published on the occasion of the exhibition herman de vries – books & editions at the Small Publishers' Fair, London, curated by Peter Foolen and the exhibition herman de vries – no thing, at De Ketelfactory, Schiedam, NL, 20 September 2014 – 18 January 2015.
One part is a package with 36 postcards with photographs by Peter Foolen of die wiese / the meadow of herman and susanne de vries in Eschenau, Germany. The photographs were taken in different seasons during my visits to herman de vries and his meadow in Eschenau, 2011-2014.
The other part is a package filled with juniper berries. herman de vries made a floorwork of juniper berries in his exhibition no thing at De Ketelfactory in Schiedam. This art centre was a former distillery of Dutch Jenever. The juniper berry, once chosen for its alleged medicinal effects, is used in the production of the traditional Dutch jenever.
When you open the package with juniper berries the typical smell of these berries comes free.
The edition will be launched at the Small Publishers' Fair in London on 14 & 15 November 2014
available at Peter Foolen Editions and De Ketelfactory
