JCJ Vanderheijden 1928 – 2012







On Monday 27 February 2012 the artist JCJ Vanderheijden died in a hospital in 's–Hertogenbosch, the place where he lived and had his studio. JCJ Vanderheijden was one of the most important contemporary Dutch artists of his time. JCJ Vanderheijden was 83 years old. He had one person exhibitions at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (1967, 1981 and 1983), Gemeentemuseum The Hague (1977 and 1998), Centraal Museum, Utrecht (1981), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2001) and Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (1990 and 2011-2012). In 1982 Rudi Fuchs presented his work at Documenta 7, Kassel and in 2009 there was a retrospective exhibition in Lisbon, Portugal.
