Progress Through Typography is pleased to announce Sol Sans, a new typeface designed by Ian Whittlesea. It is based on Sol LeWitt's handwritten Sentences on Conceptual Art, first published in 0-9, New York, 1969, and Art-Language, England, May 1969.
Any letters and numbers not used in LeWitt's original text have been replaced with Helvetica Medium. Sol Sans is a typeface that does a single job perfectly, allowing anyone to re-write LeWitt's work, and in the process follows Sentence 5: Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically.
