Peter Liversidge – What I imagine snow will look like on 21st June 2009
From 1st December 2008 to 31st January 2009, Peter Liversidge typed and submitted 134 proposals for Jupiter Artland. Ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, these suggestions include creating a snowstorm on the roof of Bonnington House on midsummer's day, to installing a sign in the grounds showing the distance to the planet Jupiter upon the day of its installation. A number of these proposals will be realised by the artist, and all 134 are collated in a new book published by Jupiter Artland, Jupiter Proposals.
On Sunday 21 June 2009 between 12-4pm, Peter Liversidge will realise on of his 134 proposals created for Jupiter Artland. 'Midsummer Snowstorm' will see parts of Jupiter Artland turned into a snow scene.
Jupiter Artland is a Sculpture Park outside Edinburgh with commissioned works of art in the landscape of a 80 acre estate. It was founded by Nicky and Robert Wilson in 1999 and opened its gates on May 15, 2009. The enactment of Peter Liversidge's proposal will be the first event since the opening of Jupiter Artland. In the landscape there are installed works of a.o. Ian Hamilton Finlay, Anish Kapoor, Cornelia Parker, Marc Quinn and Alec Finlay. Nathan Coley is working on a new installation for 2010.
